Tankoa Yachts unveils T500 Tethys Explorer superyacht

– Go-anywhere explorer ideal for adventurous, high-latitude expeditions
– Sub-500 GT superyacht with hybrid propulsion option available
– The Hot Lab design features flexible layout options and spacious interiors

Genoa-based shipyard Tankoa Yachts has revealed its latest project: the 50-metre explorer superyacht T500 Tethys.

Dubbed the ‘SUV of the seven seas’, the T500 Tethys has been conceived for go-anywhere cruising and is equipped to take on journeys ranging from a tranquil Mediterranean cruise to a higher-latitude adventurous expedition. In terms of propulsion, this explorer superyacht is offered with traditional, hybrid or diesel electric propulsion.

Vincenzo Poerio, CEO at Tankoa Yachts comments: “We are delighted to reveal our 50-metre T500 Tethys to the market. This model was missing from our range and we wanted to fill this gap. We know that both today’s and tomorrow’s owners are looking for flexibility above all, and that is the language which is spoken by our newest model. The only limit is the owner’s imagination.”

The vessel features exteriors and interiors developed with the Milan-based studio Hot Lab, with a gross tonnage of just under 500 GT.

Thanks to the yacht’s flexible layout, two convertible spaces on the lower deck can be utilized for numerous different purposes, including as additional cabins, a gym, a cinema area, an owner’s office, or as recreation spaces. Other standout areas include the sundeck, which is home to a Jacuzzi, a sun pad, a bar with a barbecue, a relaxation area and a bathroom.

Designed with relaxation in mind, the T500 Tethys’s interior spaces accommodate large groups with ease, with generous lounges found on both decks and spacious staterooms offered for both owners and guests alike. The full-beam owner’s stateroom is found on the main deck and comes complete with an ensuite bathroom, walk-in-closet and an office with a lounge area.

Guests can retire to the upper deck aft for lunches in the fresh air, with its comfortable bar, lounge area and panoramic ocean views. The aft platform is the heart of the yacht – close to the water and complete with its own infinity pool.
Alternatively, if a different configuration is desired, this could also be the perfect area to store the owner’s favourite toys, as well as any land, water or aircraft.

Enrico Lumini, Partner & Head of Design at Hot Lab comments on the new T500 Tethys: “It is fluid and dynamic in its shapes, but still geometrically pure and free of any useless constructive complications. It is masculine, to fit the market niche in which it is partly located, but also accommodating, welcoming and reassuring, as an explorer must be. It is contemporary, but respectful of its own value. I believe that with this new T500 Tethys, Tankoa and Hot Lab have found the perfect balance point for a superyacht which is perfectly current, real and futuristic at the same time.”

“We’re extremely glad and proud to present this innovative explorer project with a state of the art shipyard such as Tankoa” concludes Antonio Romano Partner and Marketing & Strategy at Hot Lab. “From the first day we appreciated the high quality skills of all the people present in the Tankoa facilities.”

Tankoa S501 Hull #4 launched in Genoa

The 4th hull in Tankoa’s successful 50-metre, all-aluminium series designed by Francesco Paszkowski has touched the water for the first time following her technical launch on Saturday 19 March.

Started on speculation, this unit is the first in the series to feature a swimming pool on the main deck forward. It also builds on the experience of Bintador’s hybrid propulsion to provide three cruising modes: diesel-mechanical, diesel-electric and full-electric.

“As our second yacht with hybrid propulsion, this launch confirms we are at the forefront of technological research in order to meet the needs of even the most sophisticated owners,” says Tankoa CEO, Vincenzo Poerio. “This time we used the MAN / Siemens system and we are very satisfied with the performance in the various configurations.”

By selecting the most appropriate mode of sailing, it is possible to reduce fuel consumption, increase the comfort while cruising at night and extend the servicing time of the main machinery, especially the generators. The eco-friendly nature of hybrid propulsion means the owner can also access protected areas that other yachts cannot.

Outfitting of the yacht will continue at the shipyard prior to her delivery in late April.

Work is continuing on the fifth hull in the 50-metre series, which has conventional propulsion and is scheduled for delivery later this year, and a 6th hull has been started on speculation.

Other projects under construction include the T580 designed by Paszkowski, the first T55 Sportiva by Luca Dini and the T450 by Giorgio M. Cassetta.

Tankoa announces the sale of the first T55 Sportiva

The Genoa-based boutique shipyard is proud to announce the signing of a contract for the first all-aluminium 55-metre unit in the new series designed by Luca Dini.

The sale comes just six months after the Linea Sportiva was officially presented during a live Zoom event and represents a promising start to 2022 for the shipyard following a record commercial performance in 2021 that saw new contracts for the first T580 and T450, as well as a 5th unit in the successful S501 series.

Retaining the brand’s family feeling and dynamic performance, the sleek Sportiva 55 is rated at under 500GT and designed to expand the shipyard’s market offering.

“We believed in this new project right from the start,” says Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa Sales & Marketing Manager. “In addition to the beautiful external lines, the Sportiva 55 has some design solutions never before seen in a yacht in her class, such as the large window with an “under and over the water” view located in the fitness room adjacent to the beach club. Thanks to his experience and skill, Luca Dini has managed to integrate all the best features into a 55-metre yacht while remaining under 500 GT.”

One of the highlights of the new design is the large Beach Club, which combines the main deck and lower deck into a single area of pure relax and enjoyment, with a swimming pool sunk into the terraced aft deck and access to a Spa zone on the lower deck.

The T55 best fits the needs of Tankoa’s current client base with five ensuite guest cabins on the lower deck, a master stateroom on main deck with an open-air chaise longue and Jacuzzi as well as a private sauna to starboard, plus a bridge deck designed for use as an open-air cinema at anchor. A T45 Sportiva and T65 Sportiva are also in development.

“This new sale confirms the validity of our commercial strategy,” says, Eva Orsi, Tankoa President. “What’s more, it also gives continuity to our order portfolio and will allow us to continue investing in infrastructure, research and innovation. With the current market situation, we’re looking to 2022 with great confidence and the awareness that the Tankoa brand is a rising star in luxury yachting.”

First hull of Tankoa T450 sold

Tankoa Yachts is proud to announce that the first hull of its all new 45-metre superyacht, the T450, has been sold to a North American client.

Built in steel and aluminium, the exterior design of the T450 by Giorgio M. Cassetta is in line with the brand’s timeless styling, but adds a bold vertical element to the superstructure and very well balanced horizontal lines, which lends the project a timeless and sober elegance. Giorgio Cassetta will be also responsible for the modern interior design which will be perfectly in line with the needs of a young owner and his family.

“It has been a real pleasure to work with this client and his team. He came out with brilliant ideas and Giorgio Cassetta turned them into a fantastic final design and layout,” says Claudio Corvino, Tankoa’s Sales Manager. “Now we looking forward to a pleasant and fun building process all together. We are also proud to have sold this yacht to a client who will certainly help to develop even more our presence in the American market”

Introduced to the Genoese shipyard by Boumer Jousma and Vittoria Santarone of Italian Yacht Group in Ft Lauderdale, the client for this first unit requested many customisations that emphasise the flexibility of the platform. These include much larger windows on the main deck and a longer upper deck salon, which raised the gross tonnage from 435GT to 450GT to provide more interior volume – all without really affecting the finely balanced proportions of the yacht.

Standout features include:
– a huge master suite forward on main deck and open-air cinema in aft cockpit;
– five guest suites on the lower deck and a generous beach club in the stern;
– an upper deck with dedicated gym as well as a fire pit on the foredeck;
– a spacious sundeck with glass-walled jacuzzi and shaded dining for a full complement of guests.

“This contract makes 2021 a record year for Tankoa,” says Eva Orsi, President of Tankoa Yachts. “For me, the most important thing is to see that our commercial strategies and investments are going the right way: we have strengthened the sales department and invested in new products to offer a wider range of fantastic yachts to the market. At the same time, we have also improved internal industrial processes. This year’s results are the outcome of these strategies and hard work”.

The first T450 is scheduled for delivery in 2023.

T760 Apache: a sensational new 76m Superyacht concept

First hull of Tankoa T450 designed by Giorgio M. Cassetta sold

At 76 metres overall with a maximum beam of 12.5 metres, the steel and aluminium Apache project is based on a brand new technical platform with beautifully sleek exterior styling, chic interior design and never-before-seen luxury features by Alberto Mancini.

“Apache consolidates Tankoa’s ability to build yachts of this size”, says Tankoa CEO Vincenzo Poerio. “It is an evolution of existing projects into something innovative and more contemporary with the collaboration of a top designer like Alberto Mancini.”

“I am very happy, after many years of acquaintance, to be able to collaborate on such a prestigious project with Alberto Mancini,” says Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa Sales and Marketing Manager. “Despite his young age, I consider him to be one of the leading yacht designers in the world. I believe the swimming pool suspended in the bow between the upper deck and main deck is a visionary idea by Alberto, who once again amazes with innovative solutions.”

Modern architecture
Inspired by modern architecture, Apache’s clean exterior lines are based on crisp horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines. Resembling the fletching or feathers of an arrow, they offer dynamic good looks as well as minimised bulwarks for uninterrupted views outboard and intimate contact with the sea.

“The layered decks had to offer multiple areas for relaxation and social activities, but the balance between the interior and exterior spaces had to be instinctive, bright and blissful,” says designer Alberto Mancini.

Light & air
Apache’s beach club is a key feature that when the folding side terraces are deployed offers 125 sq/m of upscale resort space and a floodable swimming pool with access via a grand central staircase from the main deck. It is connected to the garage, which when emptied of tenders and toys offers even more deck space. The folding platforms are also fitted with one-way glass the same colour as the hull so as not to spoil the exterior aesthetics.

“I wanted to avoid the typical cave dark effect that today we see in many beach clubs,” says Mancini. “Indeed, Apache’s beach club design is not just an area for accessing the sea to be enjoyed only when anchored during the day; it is fully integrated with the main deck salon so it can be used day or night as an extension of the outdoor living space.”

Social hub
The main deck salon and dining room cover a light-filled area of 118 sq/m. This is the yacht at its most convivial, a hub for socialising with direct access to the large outdoor terrace or down to the beach area. There are four guest cabins on main deck that enjoy much larger windows than conventional cabins on the lower deck, as well as a semi-open foredeck lounge and gym, as well a luxurious VIP suite in the bow.

Flying through space
The palatial master stateroom is on the upper deck forward with direct access to an absolutely sensational 9.5-metre long “Flying Pool” forward. The pool has a glass bottom so not only do you feel like you’re swimming suspended in space, but dappled light can also trickle down into the semi-open lounge and gym on the deck below. Such a foredeck feature has never been attempted before on a superyacht.

Quiet luxury
In the designer’s vision, the interior styling combines a discreetly sophisticated melange of Loro Piana soft fabrics and silk upholstery, warm oak parquet flooring and nubuck suede to create a luxurious but welcoming and understated ambience. Dark blue ash wood panels and a walkable glass corridor through the owner’s suite create a pleasing balance between warm and cool materials.

Room with a view
The bridge deck features a spacious wheelhouse with separate radio room and a very comfortable captain’s cabin, as well as an additional lounge for more intimate socialising or as a cosy nook to escape to with a good book. On the open aft deck there is a second pool. On the very top deck there is even a cosy observation lounge or crow’s nest with panoramic views high above the water, ideal for enjoying the last rays at sunset.

Smooth service
Apart from the beach club, the lower deck is devoted to the crew and service areas with a pro spec galley and crew mess, laundry, cold and dry stores, and hull openings for fast, efficient provisioning and servicing of the vessel. There is also a dedicated cinema room for guest use adjacent to the lobby and elevator.

Apache is projected to have a displacement of 1,350 tons and a gross tonnage of 1,515GT. There are two propulsion options: twin CAT C3512E (2 x 1901 kW @ 1,800 rpm) or twin MTU V4000M73 (2 x 1920 kW @ 1,970 rpm) engines for a top speed of 16.5 knots, cruising speed of 15 knots and a range of 5,000nm.
